NOSEAN
Nosean, member of the Sodalite group, is a rather rare mineral at the Wannenköpfe. Usually colourless and transparent, sometimes a bit troubled, sometimes white, sometimes partly white / partly colourless.
Favourite xenoliths are the brown ones, often with striking yellow parts. Accompanying minerals Sanidine, Sodalite, Nepheline, Biotite, Hematite, Pseudobrookite, sometimes Corundum, Rutile and Mullite. Usually Nosean crystals are long prismatic twins, the top of the crystal lools a bit like the top of a drill (bohrkron, boorkopje). Very rare are crystals with many shiny faces, if they are white, you can easily think it's Sodalite. Sometimes you can find 10, 20 ... ore more Nosean crystals together, this is quite unusual in the Eifel region.
