RUTILE
In the Eifel region, the Wannenkopf quarry is one of the best places to find Rutile crystals, in a lot of different forms.
Black or red tiny crystals with many faces, long prismatic black or brown crystals, needles (often covered with "sugar" Corundum) in different colours, beautiful twins,
and other strange forms. The Rutiles are accompanied by Sanidine, often Topaz, sometimes Sodalite and Cristobalite. The combination with Jeremejevite or Muscovite is a very rare one.
The tiny red Rutile crystals (with many shiny faces) are often accompanied by green Clinopyroxene, Cristobalite and sometimes Tridymite. Good xenoliths; the grey and the brown/yellow ones.
