ZIRCON

In general, the Eifel is a very good region for Zircon. The Zircons of the Bellerberg and Mendig are famous. At the Wannenköpfe Zircon crystals are rare, some forms very rare. According to several articles you can find Wannenköpf Zircon crystals in the following forms: cream coloured crystals with cone formed tops, prismatic crystals .. troubled white or transparent light yellow, and white tree formed crystals. I once found a few pink crystals and once big black crumbly xenoliths with a great deal of tiny white tree formed crystals. The last ones are so tiny that you have to enlarge properly, otherwise you'll overlook them !
